About Northern Gothic Press
Northern Gothic Press was founded in 2022 by Canadian author Mary Rajotte.
Our Success
After a successful launch in March 2022, Frightmarish Zine found placements at four brick-and-mortar shops.
In its first year, Frightmarish was nominated for a Broken Pencil Zine Award.
It was also featured in subscription boxes from Toronto’s Little Ghosts Books and in Book Box Canada.

In Year 2 (2023), Frightmarish added guest authors
Class of 2023
Including short fiction, articles, and artwork from Victoria Nations, Kathleen Palm, and A.V. Greene, as well as artwork from William Bartlett.
Current Status
Frightmarish took a short hiatus and will be returning with all new content in 2026.
